Day 2: 20 Facts About Me
Hello, my readers! Please forgive me for being insanely inconsistent.
I swear I wasn't trying to. There's no excuse, but I work full time,
and I have a family. By the time I put my son in bed, it's lights out
for me, and I've been a little occupied the last, few weekends, but I
really do want to write and share myself with everyone. On that note,
let's begin. Today's topic is 20 facts about myself. Let's just jump
into it.
1. I was born in Romania. I was adopted when I was 3 months old. I am proud of my heritage. I have never been ashamed of it. I even recently did a genealogy report and found out I had a large percent of Jewish ancestry in my DNA makeup! I've always known I was adopted, and I hope I get the chance to meet my biological mother and learn more about my blood family. I am very grateful to be taken in by the family I have. This is a large topic for me, and it could be a blog in and of itself, but I'll stop here for now. I'm sure if you keep reading my blog, you will learn more tidbits about my Romanian legacy.
2. I can sing opera...among other types of music. Not to be boastful, but God blessed me with a voice to sing and express myself through music. It's interesting because for the longest time, I could only sing as an alto, but once I hit early high school and started engaging in choir and voice lessons, I hit those high soprano notes. I am proud of my gift because while lots of people around the world can also sing opera, I still feel like it isn't a super, common gift. I know that may sound like an oxy moron, but come on, how many people do you know can sing opera? Sadly, I have not done much with music career wise. I got a late jump start on music and didn't have the support to push me to make it my life. I wish I could change that, but it's never too late to say never, right?
3. I have never permanently dyed my hair. I know this sounds silly, but I am proud that I still have my natural hair color! Yes, I did those temporary box dyes when I was a young teenager, but those didn't damage my hair, and I didn't do them frequently enough so that the effect wasn't a bad one for the health of my hair. I'm happy to have long healthy, thick locks, and I intend to keep it that way! Although, it would be nice to change up my hair color. I have really considered highlights, but the thought of damaging my hair usually ends up in me keeping the color I have. Maybe if I become rich one day, I'll buy different colored wigs just to have an alter ego!
4. I am an animal lover. Anyone that knows me knows I am obsessed with animals, particularly cats. I honestly don't know why I don't have a career with animals. In fact, I would even go so far as to say I am more comfortable around animals than people! Speaking of which, did I tell you I have two beautiful cats? Their names are Chewie and Anubis, but more to come about them later! Keep up with my entries if you want to know more about my fur babies!
5. I am a nerd. I am a nerd, and I am proud. I have always had a fascination with fantasy, video games, comic book or book based movies, movie soundtracks, anime, etc. I love magic and I am taken with fantasy. It is my escape from reality. I love almost anything with a captivating story. I love interesting characters and worlds that take you far away from the one we inhabit. It's always been a huge part of me, my nerd self. I have never not embraced it. Self proclaimed.
6. I write stories. Well, used to. But I am really trying to get back into it. Hopefully, writing this blog will help me get back into that habit. The stories I write are fiction, mainly fantasy, but also period pieces. I take a lot on inspiration from music, nature, video games, art, movies, nearly anything, and it helps to me create and expand universes.
7. I love thunderstorms and snow. I like weather that people typically complain about. You see, I am hot natured, and I love to be cold. I love snow. I find it enchanting. Skiing is one of my favorite things to do. I have gone 8 times, but it's been 9 years since I've skied, and I ache to do it again. I am a mountain girl. (Must be that Romanian heritage.) I also love thunderstorms. While people find them scary, I find them calming, yet exhilarating at the same time. Don't get me wrong, though. I do appreciate a beautiful, spring day where I can ride my bike or walk the greenway, but in case you're wondering, fall is my favorite season. I love a happy medium, crisp days with colored leaves.
8. Before I start on number 8, I realize this entry has become lengthy, and to wrap up the facts, I am merely going to list them and not get super detailed. Ok, so back to number 8, another fact about me is that I am a mother.
9. I am a wife.
10. I have 3 biological siblings, 3 adopted siblings, and 2 sister-in-laws.
11. My favorite holiday is Christmas.
12. My favorite season is fall.
13. My favorite tv show is Sailor Moon.
14. I love to wear ballgowns.
15. I love to ski.
16. I have been to 3 foreign countries, Greece, Austria, and Aruba.
17. If I could pick anywhere to live, it would be Japan.
18. Meat is pretty much my favorite food.
19. I am skilled at DanceDanceRevolution.
20. I love to cook.
So, I guess this pretty much sums up blog #2. I will definitely try to be more consistent and write on a daily basis. Keyword: try. Feel free to comment, and please subscribe! Message me if you want to get to know more about me or have any questions about my blog! Have a great Saturday, everyone!
